Injustice
I was browsing through my multiply when I read a blog from a friend about the world going crazy. I checked the link, and true enough, THE WORLD HAS GONE SICK AND CRAZY.
The story is about a family spending the day after Christmas at a golf club. Unfortunately, the Christmas spirit ended early for some people. They ganged up on the 56 year old father and his 14 year old son. They were helplessly beaten up despite the pleading of the kid. [accdg. to the daughter's blog]
Know who the culprits were? None other than the Mayor of Masiu, Lanao Del Sur Nasser Pangandaman, Jr and his body guards. His father, Nasser Pangandaman, the Secretary of the Department of Agrarian Reform was also there who did nothing but watch his son beat up an old man and a child.
How ironic. Pangandaman, Jr. was recently appointed as one of the members of the peace panel in Mindanao. Is this how you manifest and negotiate peace, Sir?
There really is a problem with our justice system that even people around us are afraid to get involved. I am enraged at how the people from the golf club resisted from helping the poor family to get the names of the people who beat them up. I mean, c’mon. Yes they are people with power because people are makingthem as such. They can only do so much with their money but when people unite to achieve the justive that they deserve, they’ll be nothing.
If you see someone being mauled in front of you, what will you do? Will you just stand there and watcch? Will you cheer for the bigger guy so that he will not take it out on you? Will you risk yourself and stand in the middle of the fight, and fight the other guys back? Or will you try to stop them, give unbiased judgments when asked for testimonies and tell everything you know about the incident?
Will you do something about it or will you just keep your mouth shut and forever hold your peace?
Empower the powerless not those who are already abusing their powers.
Simply, Irritating #2
Yesterday, there was an all-out rally against the Charter Change, and as usual rally for the ouster of PGMA. I was supposed to go to the rally, if not for the latter, anyway.. The traffic was really really really heavy, and the human traffic was worse. But one can not whine.. the least I could do is to understand what they’re going through (the mob).
I feel for them, yes, but what I don’t understand is why they have to drag their kids all the way out in the streets. Hearing the little kids sing their chant was a little off and over the limit. What does a 6 year old child know about Cha-Cha? About PGMA? Maybe they know the lyrics of the song, but really, they don’t understand why they have to go out and walk for hours. Their parents don’t realize that exposing children to that kind of situation might pose a very negative implication to their childhood. I’m not questioning their parenting style, I don’t know them, but I believe that they can show their advocacies in a better way.
It freaks me out to hear in the news that they are proud that they have brought their kids and the kids have chanted with them. A kid was interviewed and was asked what was he doing there. The kid answered that he was brought by his parents and that he supports them to oust PGMA. (he was stuttering while answering) You’ll feel in his voice how he was trained to answer in that kind of situation. Oh well, people will do everything to get what they want.
Simply, Irritating.
This day has been really unusual. I was able to go home early. I was finally able to see my labs and dearest friend, Cesca. I fought the urge of buying stuff impulsively, and I was able to do everything that I need to do.
It’s been a fine, FINE!, fine day.
When I got home, I found Manang Marlyn at our sala, watching TV Patrol. I sat at the sofa and watched the news. Something irritated me. The Sports portion featured Manny Pacquiao and his recent victory. Of course, it’s not him that irritated me, it’s the one who was interviewing him.
Interviewer [I]
During your first round mukhang very confident ka, Manny at hindi ka kinabahan.. Can you please make kwento..?
IS IT THAT HARD TO SAY “CAN YOU PLEASE TELL US MORE ABOUT YOUR FIGHT?”
WHAT KIND OF REPORTER ARE YOU?! Dang. If you’ve seen the news today, you might have not noticed.. but I seldom watch TV sooooo I’m ultra-sensitive to the shows. Hahaha. Peace.
Another Irritating Incident With The Beloved TV
Soooo, there’s this new commercial(well, new to me) I saw after the Sports report. It’s an alcoholic drink which promotes its “strong beer“. What’s irritating about it is how it poses the idea that men are stronger. I mean, come on, it’s not fair how you stereotype men as the “strong” one.
Their tag line is: Men should act like men. Strong beer for the strong man.
Something like that..
Isn’t that irritating?
Somehow, I’m still breathing.
For a very long time, I’ve been worrying on how things will turn out to be. I dreaded the day that someone will say NO and reject everything that I laid out, killing my hopes and dreams. (well not really, but it will hurt for sure)
Yesterday was my deadliest deadline. If no one confirms then I’ll call it off myself. Luckily, someone confirmed and said YES, rekindling the small light of hope I have left. Whew! A little more later, I could’ve gone out and gotten drunk instead.
That event changed everything. Now, I’ve been thinking of the IMPLICATIONS of what just happened. I have to WORK WORK WORK WORK 10 TIMES HARDER, to pull this off SUCCESSFULLY. It’s already a given that we could pull this off, the question is, will it be as successful as we thought it would be?
Oh well. Bahala na.
On other news:
Last night, I was able to get home around 11pm. Last ticket, last train, and last bus. I thought to myself, God loves me. But then again, as the bus was heading south, the traffic was getting heavier and heavier, and since the bus was on its last trip, 73 people have to fit in the 64 seater bus.
As we were approaching Sucat Exit, the bus suddenly stopped.. The lights were out, only the engine and the airconditioner were on. The driver asked the men to help push the bus, a handful went up and out to push the bus. No go. The bus still wouldn’t go. I was already panicking because I heard someone mention that there was a shootout in the area. I went out and I can see a number of police cars at the service road and a group of people checking on the commotion. I called my sister to pick me up since they were on their way to Alabang.
As I leave the bus, I saw the people left inside the bus, anxious and frustrated about the hassle that’s been put to them. We drove along the highway beside the service road where it all happened. Whatever happened there surely is not a pretty sight.
True enough, I checked the news on the internet this morning and found out what really happened. 16 people were killed from the shootout. According to the news, it was a shootout between the Police Special Action Force and 2 of the most notorious robbery gangs, the Waray-Waray Gang and Ozamis Group.
